Great Place To Be!

At Crosby-Ironton High School we take pride in our high academic standards and rigorous curriculum, as well as the social and athletic aspects of our fine school, always reaching into the future and embracing new ideas.

From interesting electives to our college level courses, our students enjoy a diverse curriculum taught by experienced professionals dedicated to providing the best education possible.

High School

Eligible juniors and seniors have a unique opportunity to earn high school and college credit simultaneously by enrolling in the College-in-the-Schools program. C-I instructors teach these courses, and credit is earned through Central Lakes College in Brainerd.

Students benefit through their involvement in school life; therefore, a strong emphasis is placed on student participation in activities beyond the classroom. Whether in sports, clubs or community projects, our young men and women know the value of educating the whole person.

Letter from the Principal

It is with warm and sincere greetings that we welcome you to Crosby-Ironton High School in Crosby, Minnesota. We hope to share the academic, social, and athletic aspects of our fine school with you and your children. C-I is a place where young men and women come to learn more about themselves, their community, global connections, and to prepare themselves for the realities of work and citizenship in the modern world. C-I is rich in history and tradition, holds tightly to the founding principles that guide our school, and always reaches into the future and embraces new ideas. This concept starts with me.

I was born and raised in the local area. As a matter of fact, I was born at the Aitkin Hospital in 1960. The reason I was born in Aitkin and not Crosby was due to the fact that the former "Miner's Hospital" in Crosby was not able to handle the complete blood transfusion that I required at birth. Having something less than a state-of-the-art medical facility is certainly not the case today! How things have changed! Our community is blessed with a medical campus that is second-to-none. There are many businesses, banks, stores, restaurants and shops that cater to the needs of our community members. Besides the hunting, fishing and other recreational activities we have available in this area, we have the luxury of a Minnesota State Recreation Area right in our own "back yard" complete with mine pit lakes, camping, regular and mountain bike trails, etc.

While the surrounding area is rich with adventure and culture, we at Crosby-Ironton pride ourselves on the high academic standards and the accessibility of a rigorous curriculum for all students. From interesting electives to our college level courses, our students enjoy a diverse curriculum taught by experienced professionals dedicated to providing the best education possible. Just over 65% of our teaching staff has obtained a Master Degree. Eligible juniors and seniors have a unique opportunity to earn high school and college credit by enrolling in the College-in-the-Schools (CIS) program. These courses are taught by C-I instructors, and credit is earned through Central Lakes College in Brainerd.

It is our belief that all students benefit through their involvement in school life; therefore, a strong emphasis is placed on student participation in activities beyond the classroom. Whether in sports, clubs, or community projects, our young men and women know the value of educating the whole person.

Finally, we want to again encourage parents to get involved beyond the specific booster clubs for sports, band, or cheer to participate in school wide supports. Having parents get involved helps all our students. Student academic success and personal responsibility are truly dependent on a cooperative triangle comprised of the student-teacher-parent/guardian. We encourage and depend on you to take an active and supportive role in your son's/daughter's education at Crosby-Ironton High School, and we look forward to your continued support and personal involvement in the weeks and months ahead. Go, C-I, Go!
