UND Band Visits C-I

UND Band Ensemble Visits CIHS
On Monday, October 15th, Crosby-Ironton's 7-12th grade band students were treated to a private concert, put on by the University of North Dakota's Wind Ensemble.

This group is the top auditioned band at UND. Dr. Popejoy and his ensemble spent the week traveling to Minneapolis for a tour. On their way to the Twin Cities the band stopped by C-I and Brainerd High Schools to play for their band students.

They put on an AWESOME concert! It was fun to see a former C-I grad continuing with music after college as alumni Kryston Wiseley plays bass clarinet in the ensemble. Kryston is studying to be a music teacher and will do her student teaching this spring!

One of the pieces that they performed was Lux Aeterna by Yo Goto. The title of this piece means "Eternal Light". This a programmatic piece, meaning that it was created to paint a picture in the listener's mind. It describes opposing faces of light and darkness that eventually become one.
