Graphic Packaging International-Crosby partnered with the Crosby-Ironton High School during spring semester to have CTE (Career and Technical Education) students manufacture an actual part for us.  We chose a shipping bracket as it gave the students an opportunity to learn to program, machine and weld a part.  Our employees worked closely with the teacher to set up their processes and ensure that our quality standards were met on the finished parts.  This is one example of how we work closely with local high schools to support their CTE programs and expose students to careers in manufacturing, hopefully to help build our future workforce!

In addition to this specific project, GPI-Crosby also participates in the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership, which allows high school students to spend part of their school day working in our Machine Shop along side our experienced Machinists.  The intent of the program is to provide an ‘internship’ experience to encourage interest in a machining career.  Ben, the student pictured, will be starting with us in September through this program.
