Mrs. Thoennes’ Children’s Literature class is getting creative! 🎨📚
In preparation for teaching their Dr. Seuss lesson at CRES, students fostered their own creativity by designing original Dr. Seuss–inspired characters. From wild hairstyles to imaginative features, each character shows off the creativity and personality of its creator!
This activity fit perfectly with Read Across America Week that happened at CRES, as our students help celebrate reading and share the joy of books with younger learners. 📖✨

Crosby - Ironton Schools will be two hours late today, Friday, March 13th due to the road conditions. Buses will be to bus stops two hours later than normal & school will start two hours late.

On February 26th, 8th grade students visited the Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post to connect what they've learned from their English class book club unit to local Minnesota history.
Students got to learn more about Ojibwe history and culture by touring the Four Seasons room, playing a museum scavenger hunt, participating in traditional Ojibwe games, and learning Ojibwe verbal and sign language, in addition to sovereignty rights.
Thank you to the Cuyuna Lakes Education Foundation for funding this trip, and thank you to the MN Historical Society museum staff for hosting our group!

Hands-on learning in 9th Grade Earth Science! 🌬️⚡
Students engineered and tested a variety of turbine blade designs to see how different shapes and configurations affected energy production. Using a fan to represent the wind source, the turbines spun a generator that produced electricity, and students recorded the voltage output using voltmeters.
Throughout the experiment, students collected observations and data to analyze how blade design impacted performance. To make things even more exciting, students also competed in a challenge to see who could generate the highest voltage by creating turbine designs that spun the fastest! 🔬📊
