With Election Day approaching, Miss Lipski's 12th grade College in the Schools (CIS) United States History class examined the historical roots of the first political parties in the United States: The Republicans (also called the Democratic-Republicans) led by Thomas Jefferson and the Federalists led by Alexander Hamilton. Students explored the key issues of the time, including the structure of the government, who should govern, federalism, economics, and foreign policy. They then had to create a symbol to represent each party's views on these issues. Check out these "Historical Heads" below!

Third grade went on a recent field trip to the Forestview Planetarium. During the planetarium show, students were able to learn about constellations, the way the earth, moon, and sun work in space together, and information about the first trip to the moon. It was an amazing learning experience for our third grade students. Thank you to Sourcewell for the funding to enable us to go on this trip and Mr. Peabody at Forestview Middle School for the awesome presentation.
