SALT had its annual We Are Silent event on Wednesday, February 19th to raise awareness for causes where others' voices aren't heard. Thirty-four students participated in the event. By the end of the day, eight students remained silent for the entire school day. Proceeds from this event were donated to the Guiding Star Project in Crosby to purchase feminine products.

Students in Mrs. Roubinek's class worked on reading skills with their high school helpers from Mrs. Otterstad's class! #buildingrelationships #gocigo

Despite the Special Olympics Winter Carnival field trip being canceled, Ms. Olive's class still had a blast creating their own carnival. Sledding, hot cocoa, and carnival games! Huge thank you to many of the CRES teachers pitching in last minute to make our favorite day of the year come true! #mnspecialolympics #ittakesatribe #gocigo #rangernation

1st graders are loving the new ChompSaws that were added to Technology and Innovation class! These are kid-safe power tools that allow the students to easily cut cardboard and bring their inventions to life! We are no longer burdened with the difficulty of cutting cardboard with scissors. We can create and invent anything we want out of cardboard with these new tools. We have 5 new ChompSaws in the STEAM Lab. Thank you to Cuyuna Lakes Education Foundation for providing the funds to make this possible!

Third graders, in Mrs. Judd's class, took a deep dive into the book 'Amos and Boris,' by William Steig. A great book about friendship! Do you remember this book?

4th graders are busy getting ready for their STEAM Expo at the end of February! The theme of the expo is Native American Tribes. In Technology and Innovation class, each group of students selected a tribe to research. They are currently working on compiling the research, presenting their research in Google Slides or with a video in the green screen room, 3D printing the type of housing their tribe traditionally lived in, and painting the finished 3D product.

The Crosby-Ironton Dance Team is leaving for State! There will be a procession through town around 1:15 today (Thursday, 2/13). Let's line the streets and cheer these state-bound athletes on! Best of luck, Rangerettes!

"On Wednesdays We Wear Pink!" Our hallways were a sea of pink.💕

5th graders are wrapping up a microgreens unit in Technology and Innovation class. The students coded Micro:bits to use soil sensors and water pumps to water microgreen seeds, whenever the soil became too dry. They have started to harvest the plants! Last week, the students harvested broccoli and radishes. Most students also chose to eat a few of their plants as well!
